    Brief Introduction

    Founded in September 2024, the OmniX Robotics Competition Team is based at 糖心Vlog官方 Entrepreneur College (Taicang) and is jointly supported by the School of Robotics and the Innovation Factory. The team focuses on developing advanced robotic systems and actively participates in competitions such as RoboMaster.
    At OmniX, we uphold the belief of “Innovation through Engineering” and strongly encourage members to design and build their own solutions instead of relying on off-the-shelf components or copying existing designs. We believe that true engineering capability comes from hands-on problem-solving and deep technical understanding.
    To date, our team has successfully designed and assembled several advanced robotic platforms, including mecanum-wheel robots, wheel-leg hybrid robots, supercapacitor controllers, and robot-controlling platforms. These projects span mechanical design, embedded control, and intelligent algorithms, demonstrating our team’s interdisciplinary strength.
    After achieving third place in our very first season (2024), we are now pushing technical boundaries to aim for the championship. Beyond competition, OmniX also strives to foster a tech-driven culture on campus and inspire more students to explore robotics and intelligent systems.

    Project prototype

    So far, we have successfully designed and built four original robots:
    ?Swerve Infantry
    ?Swerve Sentry
    ?Mecanum Hero
    ?Wheel-Leg Infantry
    These platforms are powered by our in-house developed robot control system and a high-power supercapacitor controller, showcasing our full-stack engineering capability—from motion control algorithms to custom power management hardware.

    How it is being developed

    The OmniX team is structured into four core technical groups: Mechanical, Electronics, Control, and Computer Vision. Before each development cycle, the entire team collaborates to define clear R&D goals and technical directions, ensuring coordinated progress across all domains.
    ?The Mechanical Group utilizes SolidWorks for robot CAD modeling and structural design, followed by physical assembly;
    ?The Electronics Group designs system wiring and develops custom PCBs tailored to the control system’s needs;
    ?The Control Group uses STM32 microcontrollers and programs robot core functionalities in C/C++, covering motion control, communication, and power management;
    ?The Computer Vision Group builds on the NVIDIA Jetson platform for edge computing, integrating advanced algorithms such as YOLO-based object detection, SLAM, and LiDAR-based navigation.
    Throughout the development process, all groups maintain tight communication and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software.
    To boost productivity, the team has built a dedicated high-performance computing (HPC) platform. The Mechanical Group synchronizes SolidWorks designs across devices via the platform for real-time collaboration. The Control Group utilizes an internal Git-based version control system and CI/CD pipeline for automated cloud compilation and consistent code deployment. Meanwhile, the Computer Vision Group leverages the HPC platform for model training and optimization, enabling faster development and deployment of intelligent features onto real robotic platforms.

    Expected outcome

    OmniX is now actively preparing to compete for the national championship in next year’s RoboMaster competition. To achieve this goal, we are planning a major expansion in both hardware platforms and team capabilities.
    Our upcoming priorities include:
    ?Designing and manufacturing more advanced robotic systems, such as multi-degree-of-freedom robotic arms and autonomous UAVs;
    ?Continuously optimizing the performance and stability of our existing robots to enhance real-world competitiveness;
    ?Building a unified technical identity by expanding our online infrastructure—including the main website and wiki site under omni-x.net—to showcase our work and improve team visibility;
    ?Proactively seeking partnerships, sponsorships, and collaborations with enterprises, research institutes, and universities to jointly promote the application and innovation of robotics technologies.
    We believe that with continuous innovation and dedication, OmniX will step onto a larger stage and make an even greater impact.
