The Physical Education Centre offers a diverse range of sports courses for all students, covering ball sports, fitness training, body shaping, martial arts, outdoor activities, and emerging sports to meet the needs of students with different interests and skill levels. The following are selected course descriptions:

Golf

Golf originated in 15th-century Scotland and is a sport with unique charm, known as an “elegant and fashionable sport.” This course introduces the history, rules, terminology, and fundamental skills of golf, cultivating students’ sportsmanship, ability to coexist harmoniously with nature, and interpersonal skills.

Tennis

Tennis is an elegant yet intense sport that originated in France, was born in England, and is now popular worldwide, known as the world’s second-largest ball sport. This course aims to help students master the fundamental skills of tennis through instruction on its history, rules, and techniques, while cultivating a strong interest in the sport.

Badminton

Badminton is a gentleman’s sport that originated in 19th-century England, combining technical skill, agility, speed, and strategic thinking. This course aims to help students systematically master the fundamental skills of badminton, cultivate sports literacy and lifelong exercise habits, and promote communication through sports within the international campus environment, allowing students to gain health, friendship, and confidence while enjoying the sport.

Table Tennis

Table tennis, known as China’s “national sport,” is a popular ball game worldwide. This course aims to familiarize students with the history, rules, terminology, and fundamental skills of table tennis. With an emphasis on basic knowledge, core techniques, and rules, the course helps students develop proper exercise methods and cultivate a strong interest in the sport.

Football

Football, the world’s most popular sport, not only enhances physical qualities such as speed, strength, endurance, agility, and flexibility but also positively influences mental qualities such as focus, imagination, and cognitive ability. This course aims to familiarize students with the characteristics and rules of football, emphasizing basic technical training and tactical coordination to inspire a strong interest in the sport while fostering good exercise habits and resilient character.

Basketball

Basketball is a competitive sport that combines teamwork, strategic execution, and individual skills. Through systematic participation in basketball training and games, students can develop teamwork, competitive spirit, awareness of rules, and communication skills, while also improving cardiovascular function, explosive power, coordination, and reaction speed. This course begins with ball-handling drills and progressively covers fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense, while introducing basic tactical coordination and practical gameplay.

Pickleball

Pickleball is an emerging sport that combines elements of tennis, table tennis, and badminton. Originating in the United States, it has gained global popularity in recent years. This course helps students quickly master the core skills of pickleball through instruction on its history, rules, and fundamental techniques, improving coordination and reaction speed while enjoying the joy of sports in a relaxed atmosphere.

Squash

Squash is an indoor sport that combines speed, explosive power, agility, and tactical thinking. This course aims to help students systematically master the basic rules and techniques of squash, enhance their sports literacy, develop an active lifestyle, and promote communication through sports within the international campus environment, allowing students to gain health, friendship, and confidence while enjoying the excitement of squash.

Body Building

Body Building is a form of exercise that uses bodyweight or various equipment to build muscle, increase strength, improve physique, and cultivate character. This course uses diverse forms of fitness training to effectively enhance students’ physical fitness, promote health, improve body shape, and boost mental well-being.

Yoga

Yoga originated in ancient India and has evolved into a holistic fitness practice that is popular worldwide. This course introduces the origins, philosophy, schools of yoga, breathing techniques, meditation, and human anatomy, combining these with asana practice to help students master foundational yoga postures and breathing methods, cultivating a healthy body, graceful physique, and elegant demeanor.

Zumba

Zumba is a high-energy aerobic workout that originated in Latin America and blends international music and dance styles. This course combines diverse Latin rhythms such as salsa, reggaeton, and merengue with contemporary music to create easy-to-follow, fun-filled dance routines. No dance experience is needed. Through dynamic intervals of fast-paced movements and slower recovery segments, students can burn calories efficiently while improving cardiovascular health and coordination, all while relieving stress and experiencing joy.

Mat Pilates

This course is designed specifically for university students with no prior experience. Based on Pilates’ core principles of focused awareness, precise movement, and deep integration of breath and motion, the course requires no additional equipment—only a mat. Through low-impact, high-awareness scientific training, it helps alleviate back discomfort and postural issues caused by prolonged sitting, while cultivating precise body awareness and core control, laying a solid foundation for future sports training.

Self-Defense

Self-defense is a practical system of protective skills designed to respond to sudden dangers or potential threats to personal safety. This course is open to all students and aims to systematically teach practical self-defense techniques, enhance the ability to respond to dangerous situations and improve psychological resilience, helping learners better protect their personal safety in real-life situations.

Filed Survival

This course introduces practical experience from wilderness survival training into the classroom, making full use of natural environmental resources for physical activities. Through unique environments and effective methods, the course enhances students’ self-challenging awareness and lifelong exercise habits, develops physical fitness, imparts knowledge and skills related to wilderness activities, cultivates psychological resilience and adaptability, and teaches students how to compete and cooperate.

Frisbee

Frisbee originated in the United States and is a fitness activity suitable for all ages. This course leverages the sport’s novel, lively, varied, and challenging characteristics—along with minimal gender differences and low venue requirements—to cultivate students’ interest in physical exercise. Though seemingly simple, frisbee involves numerous physical qualities and serves as an ideal activity for restoring energy, relieving fatigue, and exercising the mind.

Fencing

Fencing is a traditional sport with a long history, originating in medieval France as a symbol of chivalry. Modern fencing is highly technical, with complex movements, frequent footwork, and rapid transitions between offense and defense. This course aims to help students develop physical qualities such as strength, speed, coordination, flexibility, and endurance, while cultivating courage, decisiveness, tenacity, and the will to overcome challenges.

Archery

Archery has a long history, originally used for hunting and warfare, with modern archery originating in England. This course aims to help students not only develop physical fitness but also relieve stress, alleviate eye strain, and improve concentration through learning the basic rules and skills of archery.

Taekwondo

This course is a specialized training program focused on enhancing competitive taekwondo skills. It systematically covers taekwondo competition rules, combat strategies, and combination techniques, using high-intensity sparring exercises and physical training to help students transform fundamental techniques into effective scoring abilities on the field, comprehensively improving reaction speed, tactical awareness, and resilient sportsmanship.

Dance Sport

Dance Sport, also known as International Standard Ballroom Dancing, is a competitive partner dance performed in a walking style. This course focuses on two Latin dances—jive and cha-cha—aiming to improve students’ physical fitness, achieve weight loss, and enhance coordination.
