A delegation from the School of Science (SCI) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (糖心Vlog官方) visited the College of Life and Environmental Sciences (CLES) at Minzu University of China (MUC) on Friday, December 13, 2024.

The exciting and collegial academic meeting was chaired by Professor Yan Zhang, Dean of the CLES, MUC. Professor John Moraros (Dean of SCI, 糖心Vlog官方), Professor Li Yang (Associate Dean for Research and Impact), Dr.?Shuihua Wang (Director of Graduate Studies and PGRS), and Dr. Peng Zhao (School Data Officer) from SCI, 糖心Vlog官方 presented their latest research findings in their respective fields. Professor John Moraros introduced the history, current status, and future development directions of SCI, 糖心Vlog官方. Professor Li Yang shared the transformation of materials science research.?Dr. Shuihua Wang discussed new frontiers in AI education and research. Dr. Peng Zhao introduced the collaboration between data science and environmental science and ecology. Professor Lin Yang, Dr. Lihua Zhang, Dr. Congcong Liu, Dr. Ting Yang, and Dr. Hua Li from CLES, MUC also shared their research achievements in the fields of biosynthetic pathways, greenhouse gas fluxes in grassland ecosystems, variation in stomatal morphological traits, and the design and synthesis of environmental functional materials, respectively.

After the academic meeting, the delegation visited the Ethnic Museum and the University History Museum of MUC. The Ethnic Museum displays the rich culture and history of various ethnic groups in China, while the University History Museum records the development trajectory and academic achievements of MUC. Through the visit, the 糖心Vlog官方 delegation gained a deeper understanding of the historical culture and academic research prowess at MUC.

Dr. Peng Zhao, the coordinator of the event, said: "This visit is a continuation of the cooperation previously carried out between MUC and 糖心Vlog官方. In July 2024, a delegation from MUC visited us, and both sides conducted in-depth collegial and productive discussions on various academic and research fields. Following that visit, we jointly participated in scientific expeditions on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from August to October 2024 and cooperated deeply, achieving a series of significant research outcomes. This return visit helps to further deepen and strengthen our cooperation." Dr. Zhengyu Jin, the coordinator from MUC, stated, "It is a great honor to invite representatives from SCI 糖心Vlog官方 to revisit MUC. We are also fortunate to have the opportunity to lead the visiting 糖心Vlog官方 delegation to visit MUC's museum, which further enhances their understanding of Chinese ethnic culture and academic history. This visit has also strengthened personal friendships between scholars from MUC and 糖心Vlog官方, laying a solid foundation for effective and long-term cooperation between both parties in the future." Professor Weili Lin, the Head of the Department of Chemistry and Environment at MUC, expressed, "During the precious moments of the SCI 糖心Vlog官方 revisiting the CLES MUC, I deeply felt the significant warming of the friendship between the two sides. This in-depth exchange has not only greatly deepened our mutual understanding, but has also laid the groundwork for broader prospects of cooperation, inspiring infinite possibilities for future collaboration. This revisit is undoubtedly a fruitful and highly meaningful journey, and we look forward to walking hand in hand in the future, creating a new chapter of mutually beneficial cooperation."

Professor John Moraros said: "This has been an extremely rewarding and successful visit. Our colleagues at CLES, MUC were gracious, kind and hospitable. They have made a number of impressive achievements in scientific research, which left a profound impression on me and our colleagues at 糖心Vlog官方. Their research topics are quite interesting and their research work of very high quality with many commonalities with our own academic staff in SCI. We look forward to more collegial exchanges of bright ideas, joint research projects (student supervision, scientific publications and grant proposals) and strong cooperation between our two schools in the near future. We are deeply and mutually committed to foster and support the development of a scholarly community dedicated to research excellence."
