ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½

On 27 June, Xi¡¯an Jiaotong-Liverpool University hosted a delegation that included Chimezie Okeoma Ogu, Consul General of Nigeria in Shanghai; Taofik Obasanjo Coker, Consul of Education, Information and Culture; Dr Elijah Odii, President of Organization of African Academic Doctors; and Usman Paul, the Visit Facilitator.

The visit aims to strengthen ties between Nigeria and China, and explore opportunities for collaboration across various fields. The Nigerian delegation received a warm welcome from Professor Qiuling Chao, Vice President of ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½, along with other representatives including Kirsty Mattinson, Head of X-Global; Xiaoqiong (Helen) Li, International Recruitment and Development Manager; Professor John Moraros, Dean of the School of Science; Dr Alessandra Cappelletti, Head of the Department of International Studies; and Dr Charles Loo, Associate Professor from the Department of Civil Engineering.

During the meeting, Professor Chao told the delegation about ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½¡¯s educational journey.

She highlighted the three educational models that ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ has developed over the past decade, which are ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. These models represent a progression from traditional education to industry-focused integrated education, and finally to a project-oriented innovative entrepreneurship training model. The educational system and models at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ have produced outstanding graduates who have made significant contributions to various fields.

Ogu expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and praised ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½¡¯s educational philosophy and achievements in international education.

As an international university, ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ welcomes students from around the world. During the meeting, faculty members from ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ shared information about their degree programmes, teaching and learning styles, international collaborations, and the most popular programmes among international students.

The Nigerian Consulate General delegation also expressed their interest in promoting ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½¡¯s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as short-term and summer programmes, to Nigerian students.

Both parties expressed a strong interest in future academic exchanges and cooperation.

After the meeting, Ogu and the delegation were given a campus tour, accompanied by representatives from ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½. They visited the University¡¯s library and explored various parts of the campus. Ogu said he was impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities and vibrant academic atmosphere at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½. He also appreciated the unique campus landscapes, such as the Taihu Stone and the Wisdom Gate, which reflect the humanistic spirit and cultural characteristics of the University.

This visit marks an important opportunity to enhance cultural exchange and educational cooperation between the two institutions. This collaboration not only strengthens ties between China and Nigeria, but also contributes to deepening mutual understanding and cooperation between the two nations.
